While this article was written with Cockatoos in mind, I truly believe that this article can be for any species of parrot. As a caregiver for parrots, we need to fully understand a parrots means of defense, they are flight, Fight or Flee. In captivity these options are seriously modified which can cause behavioral issues and phobias. I encourage everyone to read this article, and then hopefully we can all broaden our understanding of a parrots thinking. I also believe that this is another reason why it is important for all parrots to maintain flight, even in captivity. WE have taken so much away from them already, taking away one of their natural defenses can lead to many more psychological issues.
